Melanie Sweeney is a writer, a mother, an animal lover, and a feminist. She earned her MFA in creative writing from New Mexico State University, and her latest nonfiction work, Birds as Leaves, a chapbook about motherhood, gender, nature, and the body, is forthcoming from The Lettered Streets Press in May 2015. Melanie cares for her three-year-old son and twin infant daughters. She writes a lot about the intersections of feminism and pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and the body. She also has a dog.
